Searching for a sperm donor isn't fun!!

Wow! I have been trying to think of a "known donor" all week and it isn't as easy as I thought it would be... Michelle decided to ask this guy we both know spontaneously when we were out the other night and it went both bad and good. First, he dated my cousin before and that was awkward and then he didn't say no, but listening to him talk he wants kids of his own and don't have any so that could make this a bad arrangement. So, even though I think we're back @ square one @ least I think we got practice... So I'm still reading the book and it talks in depth about "known donors" and all the things that should be considered before and during negotiations so this is gonna be harder than I first expected... But my goal is to start a list with possible donors and eliminate them one @ a time... The book an a close friend said that using someone too close to you isn't the idea situation because that person may be around a lot and get too attached... So when looking for a "known donor" look outside you immediate circle and you might be surprised @ who ends up on your list... So this upcoming week I will be making a list and asking potential donors and may be I might have to look into using a sperm bank (will be the last costly option)..

More about me..

Well I said that I would get permission from my partner and tell you guys about her. Her name is Michelle and she's 46 yrs. old, we've been together just under 5 months (that's long in lesbian yrs. :-).) But sometimes it seems like we've known eachother longer. She wonderful and just like I want to have children so does she and she's very excited too! I was planning this before I met her, but she has been excited ever since I first told her about it. Okay, a little more about her, She work with patients with HIV/AIDS and she's very dedicated to them, she loves peoples and she very involved in the LGBT community. Something that really attracted me to her was her huge dedication to Spiritual Growth. She's so wonderful to me!!

Okay enough of that! This weekend I decided that I'm going to be more health conscious when I eat (Michelle was a great influence of that decision). I'm not having caffeine anymore (but will need baby steps with that!), but haven't had any this past weekend. I'm gonna eat more fruits and vegetables (another thing, before Michelle I didn't eat vegetables) so I'm doing a lot of growing here!! But all these things are things that need to be done in order to make a healthy place for my baby(ies)...

Daily notes...

After talking with a friend about things I need to be doing I decided to start taking prenatal pills today... I started on "Stuart brand"($35.00 @ CVS) only because the local pharmacist said they were the best...

Getting to know me...

Well let me begin by sharing a little about me. I'm a 37 year old lesbian with 2 sons (18 yrs. and 20 yrs.) I had both of them through heterosexual relationships when I was younger. I've been with women since the age of 19 and have been wanting to have a daughter for about 9 yrs but procrastinated on trying. In June 2009, I went to the ob/gyn to get a check up to make sure all the pipes were working right! =)). I was given a pelvic ultrasound because I have history of cyst. I was given the green light in July 2009. I always had this dream of having twin girls so I asked my Dr. about taking fertility drugs to help increase my chances. So in August 2009 I started taking "Clomphene" and took it 3 days after my period starts for 3 months. In Sept. 2009 I started reading "The Ultimate Guide to Pregnancy for Lesbians by Rachel Pepper" and it told me several different ways to track my ovulation cycle. I have a partner but I need to get her permission before I share anything about her, sorry...

So, I will take you along on my journey to conception.... I will share what I learn and experience along the way, good and bad! So be prepared for the pretty and the ugly!!

I'm so excited about this! I hope you'll enjoy it too!!

first Blog

good morning,

this is my first blog. I wanted to start blogging to share with other lesbians trying to plan a family. This is entirely new to me and will be strange @ first. I hope to gain not only the knowledge of knowing that I'm helping others but also, the knowledge that I may gain from it myself. I love to read so I will be sharing things I read, things I heard and my personal journey that I'm experiencing.

I hope that it'll be helpful and fun @ the same time!
